The co-captains of Travail are the James Beard Award semi-finalists James Winberg, Bob Gerken, and Mike Brown. Working with a foundation of classic French cooking techniques, we curate a chef-driven, customized dining spectacular focused on engagement and delight.

 

Travail has moved!

2019 brings lots of exciting changes, starting with a Minneapolis residency. In January Travail moved into a temporary home at 1930 Hennepin Ave in the great 55403 zip code. This address may ring a bell for those of you who have dined at Bradstreet Crafthouse, Rye Delicatessen & Bar, or the legendary Auriga.

Construction is already underway for Travail to return to Robbinsdale in the early summer, and the current 4124 Travail building will be undergoing a remodel into the new Pig Ate My Pizza brew pub slated to open late spring of 2019. We plan to be hanging on Hennepin for the first six months of the year bringing you three different concepts, each lasting about two months.

We are still bringing our whole Travail team and our tried-and-true Travail concept: a pre-fixe tasting menu sold in advance through ticketed reservations, open Wednesday-Saturday, with a first come first served bar.

Dining at Travail

To dine at Travail guests must purchase a ticketed reservation for the prix-fixe tasting menu or grab an open seat at our bar for the a la carte menu. Seatings are available Wednesday-Saturday starting at 5pm. To learn about our available dining concepts and special events, head to our Tickets and Events page to make a reservation.

at the Bar

No reservations are needed at Travail's bar. We offer a perpetually evolving a la carte small bite menu, usually influenced by the current tasting menu and classic pub fare favorites. The chefs behind our bar serve some serious craft cocktails along with beer, wine, and just about anything your heart desires. Pop in early before your dinner reservations or stay to make this the main event.

Large Groups & Semi-Private Dining Room

We have limited seating for parties over 4 in the new space. If you would like to host a larger group, please contact us at events@travailkitchen.com or fill out the request form at the bottom of this page.

 
 

Location & Parking

Travail in Residence

We are located next to Lowry Hill Meats in the old Bradstreet location. The entrance is on the north side of our building.

Parking
Give yourself plenty of time to find parking before you arrive. There is no designated on-site parking. We will have a valet service available for $10, for which you can access our parking lot via Colfax Ave and they will greet you in front of our North side entrance. There is also plenty of free street parking, but be sure take note of signage and parking times. Those of you joining us for the tasting menu should expect to spend at least 2-2.5 hours in house. You might also consider utilizing public transit, Lyft, or Uber.
