2016 TRAVAIL LAKESIDE PARTY

What started out as a parking lot party with some of our most loyal Travailians has grown into a couple thousand people coming together lakeside to celebrate local food, drink, music, and community. Check out our menu, beer list, music line up, and other details on our event page!

JULY & AUGUST TICKETED RESERVATIONS

Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 2 at 11am.

If you've been riding this Travail roller coaster, you know we've always got a few twists and turns up our sleeves when it comes to dining at our fine establishment. Before you all rush to buy July and August tickets, we're announcing a new way to stuff your face at Travail.

First off, you can still take the classic route to dine at Travail - buy ticketed reservations, come in for a 15-20 course dinner, leave with a giddy grin, etc. You may also be familiar with our current Rookery Spotlight series in which the entire menu is crafted and served by one emerging Travail chef. Well these two dining experiences are having a restaurant baby, in which we'd like to introduce...


SPOTLIGHT BY TRAVAIL

Travail's kitchen boasts a ton of talent and it's time you got a little flavor of what some of these guys and gals can do when given their own space! Welcome Spotlight by Travail, a new concept in which one of our emerging chefs will take over the Rookery kitchen,  putting forward their own menu and dining experience for a two month period in COLLABORATION with our one of our chef/owners Bob Gerken, Mike Brown, or James Winberg. This new concept also functions as a mentorship program between our emerging and established chefs, resulting in a menu with fresh perspectives that pushes boundaries.  You can expect an up close and personal view of the chef team at work in our new 16 seat diner bar, which will surround the old Rookery kitchen. More details will be coming about the featured chef and their menu, but expect 8-10 courses of happiness.

An a la carte menu will also be available at the bar for those of you who just want to stop in for a quick bite and a cold brew or two. So now you have THREE ways to eat at Travail!

NEW SPOTLIGHT CHEF

Please welcome Chef Andy Goettsch to the Rookery kitchen as he takes over the Spotlight menu throughout May and June. Andy's courses are inspired by classic Italian cuisine including dishes such as: Mezzaluna con Spugnole (Taleggio cheese, morel mushroom, chicken brodo, watercress) and Capesante con Risotto (seared sea scallop, ramp risotto, pickled ramps, and parmigiano reggiano). His dishes are crafted with local, seasonal ingredients, and feature fresh handmade noodles.

AND Instead of ordering many small Rookery plates for a tasting experience, Andy will be serving up larger, full dinner portions. Feast!

SPOTLIGHT IPA

Not only is this menu 100% Goettsch inspired, his beer is too! Andy teamed up with the stellar crew at F-Town Brewing Company in Faribault, MN to craft his own Spotlight IPA. His American IPA is light and sessionable at 5.8% abv. AND it's his own recipe. BOOM. Read an article about this collaboration on The Growler's site here.


July Summer Break

That summer heat means two things: the Travail Lakeside Party is coming soon (June 26th to be exact), and Travail's summer break is coming up. Please take note that Travail will be closed the weeks following our big summer bash. 

Travail and The Rookery will be closed from June 27th - July 20th.
Pig Ate My Pizza will be closed June 27th - July 13th. 

Tickets for July and August will most likely be posted at the end of May/the first week of June. Keep an eye out for that announcement!

NOW HIRING

We are seeking chefs and dishwashers/polishers to start immediately at both Travail Kitchen and Pig Ate My Pizza. 

The job would include being a part of a high paced, creative and motivated kitchen team. Position is full time, however work days are W-Sat. (Four full days on, followed by three full days off). 6 designated weeks of paid vacation each year! Health benefits once eligible.

Travail only serves our chef's tasting menu. It is approximately 14 – 20 different food presentations,  but varies by season, product availability, and evening.

The Rookery

The Rookery offers a perpetually evolving a la carte small bite menu with over 20 micro plate options. 

The Rookery is also home to our bar program, the chefs behind our “wiggly bar” serve some serious craft cocktails along with beer, wine, and just about anything your heart desires. 

 

Pig ATe My Pizza

pizzas, bRews, and MORE


Pig Ate My Pizza has revamped the old Travail location into a pizza pub experience.

On the Pig menu you will find an array of classic neo pizzas, rotating craft pizzas, small plates, and over 16 tap brews (most are local)! Make sure you check out their lunch & early bird specials. All pizzas are available for take-out, but we don't do delivery.
